4 Rules When Choosing a Future Husband
The cross without Jesus is just an ugly piece of wood. Jesus is what makes all the difference.
As I sit in church today, I want to share one piece of advice that changed my life in hopes that maybe it’ll change yours.
All of us long for connection: to find that one special person you could spend the rest of your life with. I married “young” for societies and culture’s standards, so how did I find the person I could confidently spend the rest of my life with in a world full of relational struggle and confusion?
1. He loves Jesus
2. Loves the Church (God’s people)
3. Adores me
4. Divorce is not an option
Jesus makes all the difference. We love not because of looks, not because of “chemistry” and not because we just “fell in love.” We love because He first loved us hanging on that cross and we mutually understand the love displayed: a sacrificial love that is a choice. I guarantee Jesus didn’t “feel” like being brutally beaten and tortured to the point of death. He chose, knowing every ounce of pain he would experience, to be brutally beaten and tortured to the point of death. Because of His love our sins, which are punishable by death, are covered in His blood, so that we may walk around blameless and without debt. Are we perfect, not by any means, but we love because He first loved us. The cross without Jesus is just an ugly piece of wood. It’s Jesus that makes all the difference.
