How to Pick Your Theme/Word for 2019
Okay people! FIVE days till Christmas and the new year is just around the corner! I’m doing a challenge and I want you to do it with me! I’m subscribed to the Grit & Virtue email list. They’ve called their readers to choose a theme word for 2019. #19themeword Although it’s not a new concept to me, I’ve never actually done this before.
As we are in the season of Advent, preparing and waiting for the celebration of the birth of Christ, we are also anticipating the birth of a new year and beginnings. Leading up to the completion of my Master’s degree, I was challenged by an email from Charlena, founder of Grit & Virtue; “before you dive into the details of planning, how about you pause and see what God has for you? What’s His invitation for the new year? What story does He want to write with you?”
Transitioning from being a full-time student for the past 18 years to an adult stripped of the security blanket of not feeling like I need to have everything figured out because “I’m a student,” has been a little intimidating. With that being said, Charlena’s words spoke to me. For someone who fears the unknown, making this transition is something I want to make as smooth as possible. I know that may not be realistic, but there is no better way to do this than with the gift of making yourself available to receive an invitation from God. How sweeter His plans are for me than my own.
So for the past week I’ve been asking God to reveal to me a word that represents the theme He has for this next season of my life. Stop and listen. This word can be revealed through a song, bible verse, or by something someone says. “When you find yourself at a crossroad, embracing a word or theme can help you make the decisions that are right for you in your season.” I think I’ve discovered mine, but before I share it, I want to make sure this word is aligned with His purpose. Start thinking about yours.. I will share my word right before the new year. I hope you will be ready to share yours with me! Take a screenshot of these templates provided by Grit & Virtue so you can post your own word!
Thank you Charlena and Grit & Virtue for the constant push and encouragement.
